One Should Never PO the Marines!

The day after the playground bully brawl on the Hill yesterday. I have to say that I have a bit of a CSPAN hangover. N~ was very happy that he had already left for So Cal. His level of passion for the political is not even near mine...he leaves the room quickly if he sees me watching "political" TV. Usually I then hear his guitar "gently weeping" or "screamin" from the studio, depending on what I'm hollering at TV.

Anyhoo, I came across the milblog Media Lies and his post on what Howdy had posted about what a Marine serving in Iraq had to say in regard to Congressman Murtha:

"Out of the mouth of Capt B, a fellow Marine serving in Iraq:
"Holy Crap Bat Man I could write a whole Blog entry on Sen Murtha. He came here in Iraq a couple months ago. Praising us for what a great job we did. He visited places out west like Haditha and told the Marines there “we are going to let you finish what you started” as I listened. He probed about requirements and gear and moral and was somewhat disappointed that we had what we needed and kept asking well what do you really need trying to find a problem. HE defiantly just pissed off a majority of the military now and has gone 180 degree from what he was saying and preaching about “Finishing the job” when he was face to face with us. He has been to Iraq ONCE for 3 days. Everything he is saying now is exactly the opposite of what he was saying when he was with us. He makes sound like he is a front line troop as hespeaks. He is two faced and I have seen it first hand standing in front of him as he spoke to us. This is a very sad ploy by the democrats and will do nothing but hurt our troops."

Howdy goes on about Rep. Jean Schmidt's phone call from a Marine in country:

''Read this post re-printed below from
"At one point in the emotional debate, Rep. Jean Schmidt, R-Ohio, told of a phone call she received from a Marine colonel.
"He asked me to send Congress a message — stay the course. He also asked me to send Congressman Murtha a message — that cowards cut and run, Marines never do," Schmidt said. Murtha is a 37-year Marine veteran and ranking Democrat on the defense appropriations subcommittee.
Democrats booed and shouted her down — causing the House to come to a standstill."
Think about what that Marine Colonel is REALLY saying to Congressman Murtha....He is a noble, strong statesman with a distinguished military record. He got used like a remora uses a shark. The shark makes the biggest bite, but the remora eats all the food. Don't make your point on the backs of Marines and don't make it on the backs of a distinguished military

record. I see Howard Dean and the US Senate Democrats reaching into the House and moving Jack Murtha around.
The Marine Corps is a pack of wolves. We have far more distinguished combat veterans currently serving that will most certainly become statesmen someday. We speak little. The wolf pack doesn't support that. That Marine Colonel was making a loud statement from inside the pack, "You must hunt alone now." We do not share our food with you.

(Insert loud and long howl here)''

Gotta love the Marines!

Instead of the sniping and name calling, why can't we expect of "our elected" (and I mean every damn one of them) a process of honest debate? Is it an impossible hope with this government? I most heartfully hope not.

Our Troops are depending on them.
